8/12/2023 0 Comments Ground isolator car audio![]() ![]() The brake cable would dominate the braking operation and the brakes would probably work fairly well, but not perfectly because there would be 2 different forces trying to control the rear caliper. If you adjusted the brakes to operate properly with the handle bars straight, the braking would not work precisely the same when you turned the bars to either side. If you want add a 'ground loop' to the braking system, imagine a stiff rubber band connecting the brake lever to the rear caliper. The RCA cable provides a reference along with the signal to make sure that the signal is accurate when it reaches the other end. It does not matter how much the two opposite ends of the cable (as a whole) are moved (with reference to each other). If the inner cable at the brake lever end moves 1 inch with reference to the casing, it will do the same thing on the other end (the caliper end of the cable). ![]() The brake cable's outer casing acts as a reference for the braking system. If the handle bars were turned sufficiently to the right, the cable would tighten and the brakes would be applied no matter whether the brake lever was pulled or not. If the handle bars were turned a little to one side (let's say left), the cable would get slack and could not possibly tighten the calipers onto the rear wheel. The brakes would work properly only when the handle bars were in precisely the right position (straight ahead for this example). If there was no outer casing (only a cable connected to the brake lever). You know that there's an outer casing and a center cable. The 2 ground paths create a ground loop.įor those of you who are more mechanically inclined, try to think of it as a brake cable for the rear brakes on a bicycle. This causes a small amount of fluctuating DC current to flow through the audio shield which allows noise (from the voltage drop across the chassis) to enter the signal path. Some manufacturers use poorly designed input circuitry which allows the equipment's power ground to have too much of an influence on the signal (not enough isolation). The amplifier would amplify the difference between the signal on the center conductor of the RCA cable and the amplifier's ground (in the rear of the vehicle). Remember the voltage generated in the body (voltage drop across the chassis from other electrical accessories)? Well if the amplifier used the ground in the rear of the vehicle (where the amplifier is mounted) as the audio reference instead of the shield ground (which is referenced to ground at the head unit's mounting position) as a reference, the voltage generated through the body would become part of the amplified signal. It should take the signal from the RCA cable's center conductor, compare the center conductor's signal to the RCA's shield (the reference) and amplify the difference between the two. The amplifier's input shield connection (if properly designed) will have virtually no connection to the amplifier's power ground. These input circuits will, ideally, completely isolate the audio's shield ground from the amplifier's internal connection chassis ground. ![]() It is an attempt to make the concept clear to those who are new to car audio.Įvery piece of car audio equipment has some type of noise canceling circuit on the audio input circuit. This next paragraph will become agonizingly redundant. These pulses create noise that varies with engine (and therefore alternator) speed. To make matters worse, the alternator produces small pulses which aren't completely filtered out by the battery and/or capacitors. If you could measure the voltage from the ground for your amplifier to the ground for the head unit, you would see a very small difference of voltage even though they are both ground. Any time that you have current flowing through a conductor (which, as you remember, has resistance) you will have a voltage drop across the conductor.Īny accessory (lights electric motors etc.) which are grounded to the body will cause varying voltages across the conductor (the body of the vehicle). This includes the vehicle's metallic chassis. You already know that ALL conductors have resistance. This means that the audio output's reference is tied to the mounting position of the head unit. The head unit's preout audio section is referenced to ground (the metal outer chassis of the head unit to be more precise). Ground loop isolators are used to break the DC circuit path for the audio shield ground circuit. ![]() 8/12/2023 0 Comments Onyx boox note air 2 manual![]() ![]() Instead of a generic gray slab with an E Ink display, the Note Air was unveiled with a handsome blue paint job with orange accents, and even though that might not be for everyone, it looks like the team at Onyx really tried to give this device some identity. When I saw the Note Air announcement, I thought that had really changed. Past versions have shipped with very old versions of Android and lacked a real, coherent industrial design language. Onyx has actually been making Android E Ink devices for a while now, but the Note Air and the larger Max Lumi are the company’s first that really look like fully-baked consumer products. So can the Note Air be the all-in-one convergence E Ink device that makes all these special-purpose reading and writing machines irrelevant? Almost. Perhaps there are doctors and lawyers out there that need to read academic papers? I should be able to load up Pocket and slurp down articles like a pro. I should be able to load up the New York Times or the Washington Post app and enjoy the paper on, uh, e-paper. Another is ancient the Alphasmart Neo 2, which performs similarly but has an older black-and-white LCD.Īs an editor, distraction-free writing was high on my list of things to try on an E Ink tablet, but reading naturally follows close behind. One of them is the Freewrite, which also has an E Ink display (albeit a smaller one) and a dedicated keyboard. Other writers and editors at Input have taken the plunge on a couple of distraction-free writing devices. It should also be extremely easy to read and take notes on. In theory, a device with an E Ink display should have insane battery life. The dreamīefore we get into the specifics of the Onyx Boox Air, let’s talk about these use cases. Though, as we’ll see in a moment, not every Android app that runs is compatible with the E ink display. You can run regular Android apps, opening the door to a number of use cases that feature-specific e-readers like the reMarkable, Kindle, and Sony’s Digital Paper, just don’t offer. Unlike the reMarkable 2, the Note Air runs a modified version of Android 10, which is why it first caught my attention. This 10.3-inch display has found its way into the reMarkable 2 tablet that Ray Wong, our reviews editor, wrote about back in November, and it’s the display that powers the Onyx Boox Note Air that we’re talking about today. E Ink is a brand, and its 10.3-inch Carta displays are finally making their way into consumer electronics. Perhaps most importantly is the E Ink display technology itself. Right now we have to choose between paperback-sized e-readers like the Kindle or the Kobo and full-blown tablets like the iPad or the Galaxy Tab S7, but technical-book-sized E Ink readers either haven’t been available or have been so absurdly priced that they haven’t really reached the mainstream. ![]() What I lacked then, and what we still kind of lack now, is an E Ink platform for textbooks. If it weren’t for older editions and crudely scanned textbook PDFs, I literally would not have been able to study along with my fellow students. ![]() I could hardly buy food, let alone books. Like 17-dollars-in-my-bank-account broke. And of course to do your best with translation of the manual since the English version definitely has some issues with that.I was absolutely broke in college. My suggestion would then be to simply update the user’s manual with each firmware release to show all of the new features. Actually, the more I think about it the more it seems like a clever software solution. I don’t mind doing a two handed zoom if I can also write with my pen without switching back and forth between menu settings. Therefore, this might just be a case of needing to provide clear instructions to the user. Still, I can see how having it this way makes it possible to both write and zoom without having palm rejection difficulties. If I want to make the text 4 times larger, then I have to expand my fingers across the entire screen diagonal (more than 20 cm). Then I have to keep going if I want to zoom more than just a tiny bit. On my device it appears that my fingers need to start close together and then expand by more than 50% of the vertical screen length (11 - 12 cm) before it even starts to zoom. In fact, I cannot even zoom with one hand (as you would normally expect). I completely agree with LorenzoVonMatterhorn that this feels buggy. Okay, now I can zoom after following the demo. ![]() 8/12/2023 0 Comments Citrio torrent config![]() ![]() It never gathers any personal information and respects your privacy. 8/12/2023 0 Comments Female goffin cockatoo![]() ![]() In the UK their sale is controlled as they are classified as a rare species. Tanimbar corella chicks make a repetitive soft howling/screeching noise when they are hungry. Many new bird owners are not aware of the time and money a cockatoo demands and pet birds are often passed from one owner to the next or relinquished to animal shelters. ![]() Their droppings are semi-solid and can be messy. Even very tame birds can bite humans when irritated or even when being excessively playful. They need time out of their cage for one-on-one social contact of at least four hours daily and also to exercise their wings and fly. Caged Tanimbar corellas require a frequent change of toys to play with so they do not become bored. Occasionally, captive birds of this species develop self-destructive behaviours such as feather-plucking, or stereotypy if they do not have an interesting and enriching environment. Handreared Tanimbar corellas tend to demand a lot of attention. Tanimbar corellas can destroy furniture with their beaks and can chew through wires and cause potentially dangerous electrical incidents. Just by opening the cage door, a Tanimbar corella's attention can be drawn to the latch on its cage and it can learn by trial and error how to open the latch with its beak and escape the cage in seconds. Tanimbar corellas learn by watching and copying. They are intelligent and they can be trained and can learn tricks. Like most cockatoos, they enjoy being handled and stroked. They can make good pets, as they are friendly and sociable when properly socialized. They are generally quieter than the "large cockatoos" but can still be quite loud, and they have a sharp screech that some find irritating. Pet birds handreared from hatching can imitate human speech, but generally they are not good talkers. In aviculture the parrot is widely known as the Goffin's cockatoo. The maximum recorded lifespan for a Tanimbar corella is 26 years – though this figure may be a significant under-representation, considering the long-lived nature of many other cockatoo species. They are often confused with the little corella due to their similar appearance. The beak is pale grey and eye colour ranges from brown to black. The underside of its wing and tail feathers exhibit a yellowish tinge. ![]() The deeper parts of the crest feathers and neck feathers are also a salmon color, but the coloration here is hidden by the white color of the more superficial areas of these feathers. Its body is mainly covered with white feathers, with salmon or pink colored feathers between the beak and eyes. Like all members of the family Cacatuidae, the Tanimbar corella is crested, meaning it has a collection of feathers on its head that it can raise or lower. Simon is white (and petite for her variety) and has peach color around her beak as well as some yellow in the back tail feather, Sullivan said.Tanimbar corellas weigh, on average, about 250 g for females and 300 g for males. A roll of quarters is what they took out of the cash register,” said Sullivan, who added the burglars also broke through a couple of display cases before turning around and grabbing Simon as they made their way out the store in less than three minutes. “Unfortunately for them, I don’t leave cash in my drawer. Surveillance video outside of Neptune’s Tropical Fish store showed two people exiting a black vehicle and prying the front door open with a crowbar as one of the two suspects went straight for the cash register. “She’s a very personable, interactive bird.” She’ll give you cuddles,” said owner Sharon Sullivan, who was notified about the burglary in the early hours of Saturday. If you’re having a bad day, you can come over and pet Simon. “She’s our stress relief, she’s our little companion animal here. Simon, a 31-year-old female Goffin’s cockatoo, has been greeting customers at the Neptune’s Tropical Fish store in Highlands Ranch for 29 years, but her cheerful “Hello!” to customers over the years was silenced late Friday night, when two people broke into the store and left with the bird and a roll of quarters at about 10:50 p.m. DENVER – A Goffin’s cockatoo who’s been around longer than the class of 2023 was stolen from a Highlands Ranch pet store over the weekend, and the owner is now asking for the public’s help to bring her home safe and sound. ![]() 8/12/2023 0 Comments Pool waterfall wall ideas![]() ![]() One problem people run into when they cut a sheer into the main plumbing system is that they will try to get more water flow to the sheer descent (as opposed to pool returns) and the head loss drops on the the return side of the plumbing to a point that is too low for the pool pump and the pump starts to rattle and make noise. While it's a little more expensive to add the additional equipment at the pad as well as spec a separate plumbing loop, it is far, far easier to control and run a water feature that has an independent loop rather than fiddling with valves to try to achieve the right look. ![]() Pool builders often ignore this detail and will either use a really overpowered pool pump (high head, high flow) OR they will try to tie the sheers into the main pool plumbing loop and thus rob the filtration system of flow. Choose from a variety of impressive water feature designs to find the perfect fit for your tranquil backyard pool. Most of the sheer descent manufacturers will spec a minimum flow rate for a given sheer. Scuppers, sheer descents and waterfalls are all examples of open pipes that need high flow rates. As such, these pumps are designed to lift water vertically no more than about 10' or so but they can supply flow rates of well over 80GPM (some as high as 150GPM). Waterfall pumps are designed to work for applications where high flow rates are needed but not necessarily high pressure (i.e., low head high flow). Flow rate of water matters! I am of the opinion that low head water features like these should have dedicated plumbing loops (their own drains and return to the pool) with their own waterfall pumps. These sheer descents can be tricky if you don't plumb them correctly. ![]() |
